Building a writing career requires a powerful voice, sharply crafted work, and smart industry strategy. But what’s going on when gorgeous timely writing repeatedly comes close, yet fails to be accepted?

In this one-evening class, we’ll explore the concept of energetics, or how our subconscious beliefs about ourselves and the world impact the way our work is received. We’ll start by talking about somatics, exploring the way patterns of energy anchor into our bodies, and how other peoples’ bodies constantly sense this energy field. We’ll overview where these energy patterns come from—ranging from natural predispositions to childhood trauma, early life messaging, self-growth work, past lives, family curses, entity attachments, overall alignment with one’s soul path, and more. We’ll discuss “split energetics” —when one part of us wants something to happen but another is deeply invested in it not happening.

In the second half of class, we’ll spend some time identifying and reflecting on our own energetics, processing both on the page and in small groups. We’ll talk about how somatic work can allow us to change our energetics through the body. And we’ll pinpoint next steps for untangling dynamics that, despite not seeming related to your writing, could be holding you back. Along the way, you’ll get lots of down-to-earth examples of how energetics have looked and felt in other writers’ lives, including Kati’s.

Statement of qualification: Though it is only now becoming a public part of my life, I have been studying as a spiritual practitioner for 12 years; behind the scenes, my spiritual work is indistinguishable from my writing work. My experience includes attending psychic school, certification in Reiki levels I & II, and deep mentorship with many teachers as well as one-off classes. More importantly, the events of my life have continually driven me into spiritual crisis and required that I learn the skills required to rise to the occasion.
