Join me in celebrating the release of Dr. Kinari Webb’s new book Guardians of the Trees: A Journey of Hope Through Healing the Planet at Santa Fe’s Collected Works Bookstore. On October 14, we’ll be in conversation about Kinari’s lifelong work to end deforestation by “radically listening” to rainforest communities in places like Indonesia, Madagascar, and Brazil— work that dovetails in interesting ways with Lightning Flowers’ chapters about the Malagasy communities impacted both by mining projects and associated conservation offsets.
This event is free and open to the public, but we encourage you to support Collected Works by ordering our books from them. If you already own our books, here are a few books you might consider: Decolonizing Wealth: Indigenous Wisdom to Heal Divides and Restore Balance by Edgar Villanueva, Radiance of Tomorrow by Ishmael Beah, or Yellow Bird by Sierra Crane Murdoch.
Kinari Webb, MD, is the founder of Health In Harmony, an international nonprofit dedicated to reversing global heating, understanding that rainforests are essential for the survival of humanity, and a cofounder of Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI). Dr. Webb graduated from Yale University School of Medicine with honors and currently splits her time between Indonesia, international site assessments, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Guardians of the Trees is her debut. The book earned a Kirkus Star.
