In this 6-week online class hosted over Zoom, writers will explore what it means to write “crazy,” from the quiet stutterings of mental illness to the way violence echoes in us. Beginning with an overview of how physiological trauma and shame interact with our writing, writers will dig into the craft issues of personal exposure, self-characterization, wild syntax, and the danger of melodrama, writing and revising an essay of their own, and blooming in the rare intimate community that comes from sharing deeply our stories
